MY STORY

Walter with dresser

As a young man, over thirty years ago, I struggled to find an outlet for my creative energy. While traveling through Europe after college, I met the lovely French woman who would become my wife. Through this chance encounter, I was also introduced to the old world furniture makers of Lacombe & Lacombe in Rodez, France. I spent four years in Rodez as an apprentice to these skilled masters and, under their tutelage, learned to make and restore fine furniture using only time-honored joinery and finishing techniques.

In 1975, I returned to my childhood home of York, PA where I have been creating and restoring furniture ever since. In these days of mass production, high quality, handcrafted furniture is becoming a rarity. I design and build pieces according to my customers' needs and wishes, in addition to restoring and refurbishing treasured heirlooms.

I would like to thank my family for their support and patience, as well as all of my loyal customers who, together, have made it possible for me to continue doing what I love.

Sincerely,

Walter Whiteley
